TWO FROM REGIMENTAL

HELCARAXE - BROADSWORD
Viking metal can sometimes be pretty comical, so much so that it can easily be ridiculed as can just about all things metal. I mean seriously, singing of battles you never even fought in? Just kidding. But yes, sometimes Viking metal just doesn't quite do it in the serious department. Enter Helcaraxe, who with their second effort of crushing Viking death metal scorch any doubt of extra cheese. Blinding fast and wicked brutal, Vikings are back from the grave and heat to pillage and plunder! (FA)

PSYKOTISK/VREDGAD
Now we're taking business! A minimalist split of cold, hateful black metal recorded way back in 2005 and just now seeing the light of day.. The layout of the CD hearkens back to the days of old, with black and white forest imagery taking precedence. It truly feels like a time-warp, it truly feels warped. Minimalist black metal captures the true essence of the music in a way polished, pretty production simply never will. Give this one a whirl. You're yearning for true black metal will be pleased! (FA)

RECENT TESTIMONIALS:

"Outside of Cannibal Corpse, no Floridian death metal band has been as consistent and relevant. There’s lots of gas left in this tank… Darkest Day most certainly has more variety and staying power than 2005’s Frozen In Time and 2007’s Xecutioner’s Return. Keep it coming, OBITUARY. -- Blistering

"Darkest Days then? For the opposition and the much vaunted 'new breed' of death metal, maybe, but for the triumphant OBITUARY, the only dark days I can see ahead of them are when they come to try and write an album that’s anywhere near as flawless as this. Face-gurning, shit-eating-grin-inducing, fist-banging death metal, the way that granny used to make it. Take a big slice, kids, and eat it while it’s still hot. -- Live4Metal

"Even though it would seem impossible, OBITUARY have released the best CD of their career with Darkest Day. -- Metal Life

"OBITUARY continue to cement their place in death metal royalty and add to their mostly excellent legacy a full twenty years after their debut." -- Teeth Of The Divine
